Leather and coated materials
Polyurethane coated fabric used for a leather look: what the base fabric and coating each do, and why it must never be labelled or sold as leather.
Coated or synthetic leather fabric is a base fabric, usually knit or woven polyester or cotton, with a polyurethane or similar coating on the face. It is cut from a roll like any other fabric, so the surface is uniform and the usable width is predictable, unlike a natural hide.
Behaviour comes from both layers. The base fabric sets stretch, weight and how the garment drapes, and the coating sets the look, the feel and how the surface wears. A coating can crack, peel or lose finish with flexing, heat, humidity and age, so adhesion and flex are checked on the sample. It is not leather and is described honestly on labels and in the specification.

Properties
These describe how the material generally behaves. They are not universal facts, because the specific yarn, structure and finishing change every one of them.
Ranges are typical. The exact specification is confirmed on your approved sample before production.
Applications
A certification option is not a certification held. Any claim on a finished garment requires a certified supply chain and current transaction certificates for your specific order.
